Cologne Bonn Airport is one of the largest commercial airports in Germany and with some 10.3 million passengers in 2015 ranks number seven nationwide. In the cargo sector, with a tonnage of 758,000, Cologne/Bonn ranks third behind Frankfurt and Leipzig. Taking passenger volume and air cargo together, the Airport comes in at number five.

Some 17 million people live within a radius of 100 kilometres of the Airport. The two terminals are home to 52 shops, bars and restaurants.

Cologne/Bonn is perfectly linked with the road and railway network and can be easily and conveniently accessed via motorways or dual carriageways or the train services - Inter City Express (ICE) high-speed trains, Regional Express (RE) and urban trains (S-Bahn). The Airport’s own underground railway station is located directly in front of Terminals 1 and 2. Three car parks offer ca. 12,500 parking lots.

More than 13,000 people are directly employed at the Airport, and a further 26,000 jobs in the region are dependent on the Airport. The Airport Company itself employs 1,800 people.
