Portrait: Cologne Bonn Airport

Cologne Bonn Airport is one of the most important commercial airports in Germany. Since 2002, it has been focusing increasingly on low-cost business and is today one of the frontrunners in Europe in this sector. The autumn of 2015 marked a new era for Cologne/Bonn, with the introduction of low-cost long haul flights to destinations worldwide.

Every year, over 10 million passengers choose to take off or land at the Airport, which in a nationwide comparison holds the seventh place. About 30 airlines fly out from here to more than 120 destinations. Cargo business, the second business mainstay of the Airport, is also flourishing. With almost 760,000 tonnes of air cargo (2015), Cologne Bonn Airport ranks number three in Germany and is among the top ten in Europe.
